Why women should do weight training

Sonntag, 27. August 2017, 04:30 | 2 Comments

I hear a lot of women say, “I don’t want to bulk up like Arnold Schwarzenegger!”

Many women have the misconception that if they do weight training, they will bulk up like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Well, that’s not going to happen even if you try.  Women are built differently than men.  Testosterone and human growth hormone are the two major hormones involved in building muscles.  Everyone has both, but men have way more testosterone than women. In general, women have about 15-20% less concentration of testosterone in their body than men do.  So women can’t build muscles like guys.  So no need to worry.

Weight lifting has many benefits:

Lose body fat

Gain strength

Decrease risk of osteoporosis

Reduce risk of injuries

Burn more calories

Reduce back posture and reduce back pain

Enhance mood and reduce stress
