My husband and I were invited to a Malaysian Chinese wedding last night for the first time! I chose the safest colour red for my dress for this occasion! Red is considered to be a lucky colour (Chinese love red!) 

初めて、マレーシアの中国人の方の結婚式に呼ばれて昨夜行ってきました！一番安全な色は赤！ということで、赤のドレスで参加（笑）赤はラッキーカラーとされています。（本当に中国人は赤が大好きです。）

The gold envelope you can see in my hubby's pocket is called Li-Shi money gift or hongbao. When you are invited to a Chinese wedding banquet, you bring some money - it is a bit like Japanese wedding. 

主人のポケットからのぞいている金色の封筒は「利子（リシ）」または「紅包（ホンバオ）」と呼ばれるお金のギフト。中国人の結婚式のバンケットに呼ばれた時は、普通お金を包んで行きます。ちょっと日本の結婚式みたいですね。

There were 7 course meals but the most interesting thing was their toast - People yelled "yum" as long as possible, then ended with "seng". "Yum seng" means apparently drink to success! And after the desert, people disappeared as quicky as possible... that was weird. 

７つのコース料理でしたが、中でも面白かったのは乾杯の仕方。「ヤーーーーーーーム」とすごく伸ばして叫んだ後「セン」という音を足して乾杯。成功のために飲みましょう！というような意味らしいです。そして、デザートの後は、あっという間に人々は会場から去っていく…　なんか私ならこれからって思うんですけれどねー、変な気がしました。
