マレーシア・ペナン在住の英語・日本語講師のKeiko Davyです。今日はカフェトーク・コミュニティーにペナンのニョニャ料理の紹介したいと思います！
Hi I am Keiko Davy, an English/Japanese tutor living in Penang, Malaysia! I would like to introduce Nyonya cuisine today to Cafetalk community.
ニョニャ料理はプラナカン料理とも呼ばれています。プラナカンという人たちは、中国からペナン、マラッカ、シンガポールやインドネシアに移住してきた海峡で生まれた華人と呼ばれる人達で、地元のマレーシア人と婚姻し、中国とマレーシア、その他の文化の影響をミックスしてきました。
Nyonya cuisine is also called Peranakan cuisine. Peranakans are the descendants of early Chinese migrants (Straits Chinese) who settled in Penang, Malacca, Singapore and Indonesia inter-marrying with local Malays and combiles Chinese, Malay and other influences.
ニョニャ料理は見た目は中華料理なんですが、ちがう種類のスパイスを使ってマレー人がするような料理の仕方を用いて料理します。ニョニャ料理は、ピリッとするように辛く、香りがあり、ハーブが入っています。
Usually the look of the food is Chinese, but they use a lot of different spices and cooking techniques used by Malay community. Their cuisine tends to be tangy, aromatic, spicy and herbal.
写真上→出前用に盛り付けてあるのを写真に撮りました。中心にご飯とゆで卵がありますが、それを取り囲むように、フライドチキン、ビーフンの炒め物、そして付け合わせ（大抵チリが使われています）があります。
Top photo - I took the photo of the platter prepared for delivery. You can see cooked rice and boiled eggs in the centre, surrounded by fried chicken, fried bee hoon and other relishes (usually chili is used).
写真左下→ナシ・ケラブと言う料理です。青い色をしたご飯と一緒に、チキン、クラッカー（と言ってもチキンのから揚げ粉をあげた感じですが）に付け合わせとサラダを一緒に食べるものです。ご飯の青い色は、蝶豆の花びらからとり、よくニョニャ料理に使われます。私の今のお気に入りの一品。
Bottom left photo - This dish is called Nasi Kerabu. The blue rice is eaten with dried chicken, crackers, relishes and salad. The blue colour of the rice comes from the petals of butterfly-pea, and often used in nyonya cooking. This is my favourite at the moment.

ペナンは文化が入り混じっていて、本当に面白い所ですよ！
