Thousands of people attended the vigil that was held yesterday at Mel Lastman Square, to mourn the victims that were killed and injured in the van attack last week.
Religious leaders of multiple faiths shared messages of support and strength in the face of the tragedy that left 10 people dead and 16 more injured.
Many speakers praised emergency service personnel on their work the day of the incident, including the officer who was able to arrest the suspect without firing his gun.
“The fact that despite this act of hate, people came together in really incredible numbers in an act of love is really incredible”.
Many people are still in shock as to how anyone can commit such a heinous crime out of hatred.
