After students mentioning that they would like a relaxing and gentle exercise lesson, I decided to to listen, and have created a Qi Gong (Ki Ko) lesson to fill this void!

Perhaps you have seen elderly people in parks, at the top of mountains or even just at the bus stop (I saw this in Kagoshima!) practicing some very gentle mobility exercises.

These generally range from very slow, relaxed movements, similar to those you will often see in Tai Chi, to fast past movements designed to keep the body mobile and keep the blood flowing smoothly.

Regardless of the exercises themselves - the principle is always the same.

Qi Gong ('Ki Ko' in Japan) is unique in that it aims to increase our vital energy ('Qi' or 'Ki') rather than deplete it. Unlike traditional western exercise, it is the goal of this practice to leave the lesson with more energy than you started with. Often feeling extremely calm, relaxed, clear headed, and most importantly of all - BALANCED!

Qi Gong will NOT get you hot and sweaty, and so it is perfect to practice at home, work, outside or even on a plane (I have often done this on long flights!!!).

If you are interested in increasing your vital energy and balancing your body, but don't want the stress of typical western exercise, or even practices such as Yoga and Tai Chi - then Qi Gong is the ideal system for you!

ANYONE can practice Qi Gong, regardless of age, gender, strength, exercise history, or whether or not you have an injury. 

In China, Korea and Japan it is most commonly seen as an exercise for the elderly, (with many daily practitioners reaching over 100 years old!) but this does not have to be the case, and I personally practice Qi Gong every day!
