Language: The Pawn of Politics

Tracy R.

Hello Everyone!

Okay, this is a rather advanced article but very interesting. Language is a fascinating subject (obviously, or none of us would be here on Cafetalk!) and, ultimately, the goal of language is to enable us to communicate with others. But what happens when people twist language to suit their purposes and to spread lies?

We've seen a lot of this with the latest President of the United States. This article discusses the way policies under him have been spoken of by the administration and the media, using language to manipulate situations to a purpose.

What are your thoughts? Do you think that the manipulation of language is inevitable in politics? What other fields do people manipulate language in order to fit a purpose?

Have a great day!
