Homestay with Virginia!

I am an experienced home tutor (certified Italian teacher by University for Foreigners of Siena) and homestay host. I have been hosting Italian language students at my home for the past years and it has turned into my main profession. but I also know the other side from when I stayed with two Japanese families in Tokyo for more than four months in 1995 and 1998. Furthermore I have worked as a teacher of Italian in Osaka for a year in 2001.

How to Apply

My country

My house is in the countryside. The main town in the area is called Grosseto, the nearest village is Marsiliana.

The area, Maremma, is famous for its landscape, archeological and historical spots. It is a popular destination for agritourism. Especially the wine in the region is famous. Some of the main attractions are: Saturnia Natural Hot Springs, the Tarot's Garden, Pitigliano, Monte Argentario, Giglio Island, Tarquinia.

My home and I / My family

I am a family person. My family consists of my husband Gianni and our daughters. We have a small cat. We are a no smoking family. As a family we like to spend time in our garden, ride bicycle and have friends over for dinner.

My house is a villa on the top of a small hill surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. We have a big garden where students can relax and spend time. We are a quiet family, in love with nature and environment.

During the homestay experience the student will be incorporated into our daily activities as much as possible.

Transportation

The nearest airport is Roma Fiumicino International Airport (1 hour 30 minutes by car, 2 hours by train). Usually students arrive here by train and I pick them up at the train station (15 minutes by car).

This place is well connected by train to Pisa, Roma and by bus to Siena and Florence. Since it is countryside transportation getting to the near villages is not very convenient, but it's possible and very safe.

Climate

All year round. The coldest month is February but the temperature seldom run under 8 °C. July is a bit hot (38-40°C)
