Ceramics | Sculpting Cute Faces and Expressions

Would you like to sculpt a small clay face with a lovely expression?

Learn to shape a face and bring it to life through the eyes, nose, and mouth. I’ll demonstrate each step with a close-up view of my hands and guide you at your own pace.

In this 60-minute lesson, we’ll aim to sculpt one small face. By gradually adjusting the proportions, rounded cheeks, eyes, and mouth, we’ll work toward an expression you love.

【Who is this lesson for?】

You’ll need your own ceramic clay and tools, as well as access to a kiln or a pottery studio that can fire your work. No experience sculpting faces is necessary.

【What to prepare】
・Soft, workable ceramic clay
・A work board
・Modeling tools, such as wooden tools or bamboo skewers
・Water, a hand towel, and a sponge if available
・A tabletop mirror to observe your own facial features (optional)

When booking, please tell me about your pottery experience and the clay you plan to use. If you have a particular expression in mind, please let me know before the lesson.

・Please prepare your own materials and tools. Materials are not included in the lesson fee.
・This lesson focuses on sculpting a small face. It does not cover constructing a complete head, hollowing it out, or adding a body, hair, or color.
・Please arrange drying and firing yourself. Check your firing studio’s requirements for clay and finished pieces beforehand.
・Positioning your camera so I can see your hands and your work will help me give you specific guidance.
・Depending on your progress, you may need to continue finishing your piece after the lesson.
