Topic: Greetings and Introductions

Level: Beginner (A1)
Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Goal: Students will be able to greet others and introduce themselves using basic English phrases.

✅ Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Say hello and goodbye appropriately

  • Introduce themselves (name, country, age)

  • Ask someone their name and where they’re from

🧩 Materials

  • Flashcards or images (optional)

  • A simple dialogue script

  • Whiteboard or notepad for writing new words

🕒 Lesson Breakdown

1. Warm-Up (5 min)

  • Greet the student: "Hello! How are you today?"

  • Ask: "Do you know how to say 'hello' in English?"

2. Vocabulary (10 min)

Teach/review key words:

  • Hello / Hi

  • Goodbye / Bye

  • What’s your name?

  • My name is __.

  • Where are you from?

  • I’m from __.

🗣 Practice pronunciation with the student.

3. Dialogue Practice (10–15 min)

👫 Use a short sample conversation:

A: Hello! What’s your name?
B: My name is Sarah. What’s your name?
A: I’m Tom. Nice to meet you!
B: Nice to meet you too. Where are you from?
A: I’m from Canada. And you?
B: I’m from Brazil.

Have students repeat and then role-play with each other or with you.

4. Controlled Practice (10 min)

Ask students individually:

  • "What’s your name?"

  • "Where are you from?"

  • Have them ask you too.

Use name cards or country flags for visual support if needed.

5. Wrap-Up & Homework (5 min)

  • Review what was learned

  • Assign optional homework: "Write 3 sentences: Your name, your country, and your favorite color.
