Description

In this lesson, I will show you a picture and ask you to describe what you can see.

You might start by simply describing the things you notice:

“There are two people sitting in a café. They are talking and drinking coffee.”

But can you take your description further?

You could add more detail, make observations, or explain what you think might be happening:

“They seem to be having a relaxed conversation. Perhaps they are friends who haven't seen each other for a long time.”

You might also be asked to imagine what happened before the picture was taken or what might happen next.

The aim is not simply to name the things you can see. It's about learning how to describe, explain, speculate and develop your ideas in English.

I will listen to your description and give you feedback on areas such as vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and how naturally you express your ideas.

This lesson is great for:

  • Building vocabulary
  • Developing descriptive language
  • Improving sentence structure
  • Practising speaking in complete sentences
  • Learning to describe details clearly
  • Expressing ideas and making observations
  • Practising speculation and giving explanations
  • Building confidence speaking without preparation

The pictures and difficulty can be adapted to your English level, so the lesson can be challenging for both intermediate and advanced students.

If you have any questions, please send me a message.

See you in class!
