こんにちは、ワシントンまほです。
私は横浜出身の日本語ネイティブで、ミュージカルを中心に10年以上、舞台の仕事に携わってきました。歌唱指導の経験もあります。
このレッスンでは、日本語の発音だけでなく、歌詞の意味やリズム、言葉の表現にも注目しながら、お好きな日本語の歌を練習していきます。
歌詞を理解して、自分の声で言葉を届けられるようになること。

日本語が流暢でなくても、歌が得意でなくても大丈夫です。ご自身のレベルや目標に合わせて進めていきます。
レッスンでできること
① 日本語の発音を練習する
日本語の歌を歌うときに難しい音や、言葉の区切り、リズムなどを確認します。
必要に応じて、単語や短いフレーズを声に出しながら、より自然で聞き取りやすい発音を目指します。
② 歌詞の意味を理解する
歌詞に出てくる言葉や表現を確認し、どのような内容を歌っているのか一緒に考えます。
言葉の意味が分かると、どの部分を大切に歌うか、どのような気持ちを込めるかも考えやすくなります。
③ 言葉をメロディーに乗せる
話すときの日本語と、歌うときの日本語には違いがあります。
短いフレーズから練習し、発音やリズムをメロディーに合わせていきます。
④ 歌詞を自分の声で表現する
ただ正しく歌うだけでなく、歌詞の意味や雰囲気を考えながら、自分らしく表現することにも取り組みます。
カラオケで好きな曲を歌いたい方も、歌をもっと深く楽しみたい方も歓迎です。

基本的には、受講者様が歌ってみたい日本語の曲を題材にします。
J-POP、アニメソング、日本のミュージカルソングなど、お気に入りの一曲を教えてください。
曲が決まっていない場合は、お好きなアーティストや音楽のジャンルを伺い、候補をご提案することもできます。
初めて扱う曲は事前に確認・準備をしたいため、できるだけレッスンの3日前までにご予約ください。

オンラインレッスンについて
オンラインでは、通信のタイムラグにより、講師が流す伴奏と受講者様の歌声をリアルタイムでぴったり合わせることが難しい場合があります。
そのため、短いフレーズごとの練習、交互に歌う練習、発音や歌詞についてのフィードバックを中心に進めます。
伴奏に合わせた練習をご希望の場合は、事前にご相談ください。
著作権のある歌詞や伴奏音源を講師からコピーして配布することはありません。教材や音源は、利用条件に沿った方法でご用意いただくようお願いいたします。

Do you love Japanese songs but find the lyrics difficult to pronounce?
Would you like to sing J-pop, anime songs, or Japanese musical theatre songs with more confidence?
This lesson combines Japanese pronunciation practice with my experience as a musical theatre performer and vocal instructor.
Hello! My name is Maho Washington. I am a native Japanese speaker from Yokohama, Japan, and I have more than ten years of experience in stage performance, including musical theatre. I also have experience teaching singing.
In this lesson, we will work on the Japanese sounds, rhythm, and meaning of the lyrics so that you can enjoy singing your favourite Japanese songs more naturally.
You do not need to be an experienced singer or a fluent Japanese speaker. We can adjust the lesson to your level and goals.
What can you learn?
1. Japanese pronunciation for singing
We can practise sounds and features of Japanese that may be challenging for learners, such as:

Long and short vowels

Small っ and doubled consonants
-
The Japanese ん sound
-
The rhythm and timing of Japanese words
-
Difficult words and phrases in your chosen song
We will practise the words step by step and then connect them to the melody.
2. Understand the lyrics
Understanding the words can help you express a song more naturally.
We can discuss the meaning of selected words and expressions, and explore the feeling or message behind the lyrics.
My lessons focus on pronunciation, singing, and understanding the language used in songs. They are not designed as formal, comprehensive Japanese grammar classes.
3. Put the words into the melody
Sometimes, Japanese words feel very different when they are sung rather than spoken.
We can practise short phrases, rhythm, phrasing, and how to connect the words smoothly to the melody.
4. Express the song through your voice
Once the words become clearer, we can explore how to communicate their meaning through your voice.
Whether you want to sing more confidently in karaoke or simply enjoy singing in Japanese, we will work towards your personal goal.

The lesson plan can be adjusted to your level and the song you choose.
Choose a song you love!
You are welcome to choose a Japanese song that you would like to sing.
It could be a J-pop song, an anime song, or a Japanese musical theatre song.
If you are not sure which song to choose, tell me what kind of music or artists you enjoy, and we can discuss a suitable choice together.
Please tell me the following when booking:

Your goal (for example, clearer pronunciation, better understanding of the lyrics, or more confident singing)

Your Japanese level and singing experience, if you would like to share them
Please book at least three days in advance whenever possible, especially if I need to prepare a song that I have not worked with before.
Depending on the song and the materials available for the lesson, I may contact you before confirming the request to discuss the best way to proceed.
About accompaniment and online lessons
Because online calls can have a slight audio delay, singing together in perfect time with one shared backing track can be difficult.
For this reason, we will mainly work on short phrases, pronunciation, and singing feedback. I may sing a phrase for you to repeat, and then listen to your version and help you adjust it.
If you would like to practise with accompaniment, please let me know in advance so that we can discuss a suitable arrangement.
I do not distribute copies of copyrighted lyrics or backing tracks. Please use materials in accordance with their applicable usage conditions.
A little about me
I began working in the performing arts at the age of 17 and have continued working in musical theatre and other stage-related fields. Alongside performing, I have experience teaching singing.
I believe that language and music are closely connected. When we understand the meaning of the words, singing can become more expressive and enjoyable.
