Description
In this class we will take a detailed look at the history of the English language from its origins until today. It includes the introduction and understanding of the Indo-European family of languages. The class involves reading, discussion, geographical names of people and places, history and the spread of English throughout the world. The lesson focuses primarily on the origins of English and its development from its earliest forms as a Germanic language and the inclusion of vocabulary from Classical Latin and Greek to the formation of the language as it is known today.
