  • I’m sorry, would you mind repeating that?Usage: (formal) Use when asking someone if they mind/ care repeating something they just had said.

  • What did you say?Usage: (Informal) Asking someone what s/he just said, basically, asking to say again what s/he just said.

  • Say what?Usage: (Informal) short way to ask someone what they just said because you cannot understand it.

  • You’re going to do what?Usage: (informal) asking someone to repeat what s/he just said for you to clarify or for you to understand it clearly,

  • I beg your pardon.Usage: (formal/sophisticated) asking someone to repeat what s/he just said in a very formal way.

  • Would you mind repeating that?Usage: (formal/sophisticated) asking someone if s/he minds/cares repeating what s/he just said.

  • Could you say that again, please?Usage: (formal/ basic) asking someone to repeat what s/he just said.

  • Would you speak a little more slowly?Usage: (formal) asking someone to repeat what s/he just said in slow pace because you can’t understand.

  • You speak a bit fast. Slow down a little, please.Usage: (casual) asking someone to speak in a slow pace.
