It covers common slang in the American English language, including its meanings, nuances, and tips to use them in expressive conversation. You won't find a lesson like this in most English textbooks or language tutoring websites. No doubt you will be sounding more like a native after booking this lesson!

African American Vernacular English is a distinct and expressive dialect that reflects the history, creativity, and resilience of Black communities in the United States. While it has its biases on what is considered "good English", this unique dialect has always connected many communities, especially with its current influence in mainstream media such as music, television, social media, and more.

This course is recommended for:
  • Learners interested in African American culture and its contributions - such as music, televison, social media - and expanding knowledge of dialects the English language.
  • Learners interested in using AAVE to create connections, particularly with friendships, the youth, and communities in urban settings.
  • Learners interested in familiarizing terms such as "woke", "shade", "flex" that are globally used.
*** This course is recommended for learners with some exposure to the English language - including common greetings, phrases and expressions ***
