Description

Reading is one of the best ways to improve your English and expand your vocabulary, and children's books are a rich source of this vocabulary!

Join me as I read from one of my chapter books: Stuck in the Middle, Blackout, or Littering Stinks.

Here's a description of each story:
  • Stuck in the Middle is suitable for ages 8 and up and includes about 80 pages of text. It's about Salma, a middle child in a big family who struggles with the expectations of her parents and teachers and tries to navigate conflicts with her siblings on a daily basis.
  • Blackout is suitable for ages 8 and up and includes about 60 pages of text. It tells the story of Yusuf and his cousin Ahmed, a Syrian refugee who arrives in Toronto, Canada, days before an ice storm cuts off power in the city for three days. Yusuf struggles with this challenge, and he ends up learning a lot from Ahmed about gratitude and patience. 
  • Littering Stinks is suitable for ages 6 and up and includes about 25 pages of text. It's about a young girl, Aliyah, who moves to a new town where everyone seems to be a litterbug! She is determined to convince her new neighbours to stop trashing their town and tries every idea she can think of. She's about to give up when she comes up with something that just might work.
 
Each story will be divided between multiple lessons. In each lesson, we will read two or three chapters and discuss the main ideas and new vocabulary.

Based on how you would most enjoy the story, I can do all the reading, you can do all the reading, or we can take turns!
