Description
Learn useful phrases for speaking, enhance your reading speed, and improve your pronunciation with popular songs that you love!
Singing is a wonderful way to improve your speaking because it helps you practice correct intonation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and more. I firmly believe singing is one of the best tools to help you sound like a native speaker.
At the end of this lesson, you will understand the lyrics of the song, have improved pronunciation, and know new English vocabulary and phrases that you can use in daily life.
Preparation:
To prepare for this lesson, please send me the song you want to use in the lesson.
The lesson will look like this:
1. Introduction
In the beginning of the lesson, you will tell me about the song: why do you like it? When did you first hear about it?
2. Listening Without Lyrics
Next, we will listen to the first section of the song without lyrics.
3. Discussing the Music
We will discuss how the song sounds and which emotions you feel while listening. We'll also discuss what you think the song is about before we look at the lyrics.
4. Reading the Lyrics Out Loud
Then, I will read the lyrics for this first part out loud for you while you follow along silently.
After me, you will have a turn to read the lyrics out loud to me. If you have any problems with pronunciation or intonation, I will help you correct it.
5. Discussing the Meaning of the Lyrics
Next, we will discuss the meaning of the lyrics individually and as a whole. In this section of the lesson I will use pictures and example sentences to help you understand the lyrics.
We will repeat these steps to finisih the whole song (if there is enough time).
6. Singing the song Together!
Finally, we will sing the song together once or twice with the lyrics, to practice faster reading speed.
7. Homework
Your homework will be to listen to this section (verse 1 and chorus) of the song again with and without lyrics and to read the lyrics out loud as if you are speaking.
In the next lesson, we will continue learning the next section of the song!
Trial lesson:
In the trial lesson, we will then listen to just the first few lines of the song. We will talk about the feel of the music, and then read the first lines together. Lastly, we'll discuss the meaning of the first few lines.
Important:
- Each lesson includes detailed feedback.
- Lessons are conducted in English, with Korean used to supplement your learning when necessary or if requested by you (if you are a Korean speaker).
