Learn how to greet in Russian

Description

The Russian language, similar to Japanese, has respectful and familiar forms of address to other people. The respectful and polite form is used when speaking to someone you don't know or are just acquainted to. The familiar form is used when speaking to your family and friends. In this lesson, the students will be able to learn and familiarize themselves with both forms.

First, I will pronounce each expression individually (using some gestures) and let the students guess the meaning. Then I will teach them the correct meaning and let them repeat after me each phrase. After we have done that several times, I will pronounce one more time each greeting in Russian, while letting them tell me the meaning in Japanese.

After we've finished the greetings part, we will proceed to other forms of making small conversation with people and asking them about their day and how have they been (it will be done in the same manner as the greetings part). Then I will ask them again each phrase individually, using some flash cards.

After students are comfortable with pronouncing the greetings, we will do a role play. For example, I will be person A and the student will be person B. A and B are neighbors. They met outside neir their houses. They greet and exchange small talk like 'how are you?' After that they say good-bye to each other.

After the lesson is finished, we will review evereything, and then say good-bye to each other (as ourselves) in Russian.
