Practice thinking and speaking on your feet! We'll pick a fun topic, take opposite sides, and go back and forth in a friendly debate.
Description
This lesson is all about a friendly debate on a topic we choose together. Before or at the start of the lesson we'll pick something interesting to talk about. This can be serious, funny, or anywhere in between. I'll give us each a side and then we go for it.
Our goal isn't to win. It's to practice forming and defending your ideas out loud in English. I'll push back, ask follow-up questions, and keep things moving. If you get stuck we'll slow down, work through it, and talk about how to say what you're trying to say.
This lesson is best for advanced learners who are already comfortable with everyday English but want to get sharper at expressing opinions and thinking quickly in conversation. You don't need to know a lot about the topic going in! Half the fun is figuring out what you actually think as we talk.
We'll be working on spoken fluency, opinion-building, vocabulary for agreeing and disagreeing, and the kind of back-and-forth that comes up all the time in real English conversations at work, with friends, everywhere.
This won't feel like a formal debate. Think of it more like two people having a lively, honest conversation. There are no wrong answers, and getting your point across matters way more than being grammatically perfect.
