Lesson Type: Speaking
Duration of Lesson: 20 minutes
Level of Students: C1/C2 adults
Nationality of Students: mostly Japanese, some students come from neighbouring countries
Possible Challenges:
- More advanced expressions will not make sense when thinking in Japanese and using Japanese grammar
- Students may be tempted to alter or misconjugate set phrases or expressions in order to better understand them
- Students might need extra prompting or eliciting to speak fluently about their own interests, especially in a second language
Aim
- To increase students' self-confidence when discussing their own interests by conversing with a native speaker
- To have students complete a diagnostic test in order to assess their strengths and weaknesses (e.g. grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary).
- To teach the correct meaning, form and pronunciation of new and useful vocabulary (and expressions) within the context of an informal conversation in English, about the students' interests
