As an English teacher and aspiring programmer, I often get questions from students and pupils on the complexity of Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

The beauty of it all is - It's not that complex.

Bitcoin's simplicity has combined the destinies of technology and finance much like the internet blended computing with the human imagination.



If you have a basic understanding of finance such as - Where money comes from, inflation/deflation cycles, assets and interest rates then welcome to Bitcoin, Blockchain & Cryptocurrency 201.

Here we will be covering:
  • The What and Whys of Bitcoin, Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies
  • How computer nerds are shaking up traditional finance, banking, crowdfunding, entertainment, gaming, governments, intermediaries, music, public records, supplychains and much more!
  • What are nodes? How they put together the Bitcoin blockchain and who can run them?
  • What is a crypto address? Crypto Wallets and how you can be your own bank
  • Cryptocurrency safety. What is the consensus method and how exactly are new 'tokens/crypto coins' added to the network
  • Summary and history of Bitcoin and its Whitepaper
  • What is Bitcoin mining, proof-of-work, blocks, competition and fees
  • How to hack Bitcoin
  • Quick overview of gas fees, smart contracts, tokens, NFTs
I want to stress that this is not a technical computing course. Instead, a general overview of the technological implications and basics on everything you may have heard from the news, youtube or your crypto-crazy friends.
