Description

Ideal for upper-intermediate, advanced level English.

This lesson starts off with discussion around what the students eat, and a lifestyle that they maintain in order to remain fit and healthy. They then need to predict what the article will say about various items and foods (tangerines, pillows, washing dishes, swearing etc) There are then some vocabulary exercises where the students have to match definitions and collocations of words that will appear in the text.

After reading the article and discussing the conclusions, the students learn some food idioms.

A. WARMER -  introduction discussion between student and I discussing  two questions that are related to thew topic. 

B. PRE-READING ACTIVITY - Get the students to discuss what they think the scientific conclusions might have been with regard to the items.. 

C. PRE-TEACH VOCABULARY - Get the students to match the word on the left with the definition on the right.

D. READING - student and I will engage in the reading part of the lesson. 

E.  FOLLOW ON ACTIVITY - Have a discussion with the student discussing the various points read and insure student understands the various concepts with regards to the information given concerning various lifestyle changes noted within the reading. 

F. EXTRA ACTIVITIE - IStudent need to choose the correct word to complete the idiom. 

G. WRAP UP
