Consonant Blends
Description
For students to fully understand the English Language, they need to first understand how sounds combine to form words.
Today we will be exploring what is known as consonant blends.
Introduction: The teacher will demonstrate the combining of two two liquids, for example, syrup and water. She will then show the result to her student. Following that, she will show various letters and then the combination of those letters (two at a time), for example, c+l, b+l etc.
Developmental Steps: The teacher will show each letter to the student and make the sound of each letter. She will then combine letters to make consonant blends and provide the new sound/pronunciation for each.
Conclusion: The teacher will allow the student to pair various letters in order to create consonant blends, and then have him/her say the sounds/pronunciations.
