レッスンの詳細

In this class, we will read news articles together and use them as a way to build up your reading, vocabulary, inference, and discussion skills in English. The process will include reading, vocabulary work, comprehension, and discussion.

What we will do in each lesson

  • We’ll select one or more news articles to read together. I can choose them beforehand, or you can pick one if you prefer.

  • I will prepare comprehension questions to help you understand the article more deeply: main ideas, details, inference etc.

  • I will also prepare a list of difficult or key vocabulary from the article(s) that we can go over together: definitions, usage, pronunciation.

  • After reading and discussing vocabulary, we’ll spend time answering the comprehension questions and talking about the article: what you thought, whether you agree or disagree, how it relates to things in your experience, etc.

  • We can adjust the focus depending on what you want more: if you prefer to spend more time reading carefully, or more time discussing / debating the ideas, or focusing heavily on vocabulary, just let me know in advance.
