Description

Warm-up (5 minutes):

  1. Greeting: Begin the lesson by greeting the student and engaging in some friendly small talk to create a positive and relaxed atmosphere.
  2. Brainstorm: On the whiteboard, ask the student to brainstorm hobbies and interests they enjoy. Write down their ideas to use later in the lesson.

Introduction to Vocabulary (10 minutes):

  1. Handout: Provide the student with a handout containing various hobby-related vocabulary words and phrases (e.g., painting, playing the guitar, cooking, hiking).
  2. Pronunciation Practice: Go through each word on the handout, and have the student repeat after you to practice pronunciation.

Speaking Activity (10 minutes):

  1. Hobbies Survey: Conduct a role-play activity where you act as a surveyor, and the student acts as the interviewee. Use the brainstormed hobbies from the warm-up as the basis for the questions. For example:
    • Surveyor: "Do you enjoy cooking?"
    • Student: "Yes, I love cooking. It's one of my favorite hobbies."
  2. Switch Roles: After a few questions, switch roles, and let the student be the surveyor, asking you questions about your hobbies.

Interactive Practice (5 minutes):

  1. Picture Prompts: If you have pictures or props related to hobbies, show them to the student one by one. Ask the student to describe what they see, and encourage them to use the vocabulary they learned earlier.

Conclusion (5 minutes):

  1. Review: Recap the new vocabulary words and phrases related to hobbies and interests that the student learned during the lesson.
  2. Homework: Assign a short writing task where the student describes their favorite hobby in a few sentences using the vocabulary from the lesson.
