Go beyond basic comprehension! Read fascinating articles, uncover hidden biases, master advanced vocabulary, and debate your ideas in an engaging discussion.

Description

Tired of just translating words one by one? It’s time to read between the lines and think critically in English!

Learning English shouldn't stop at understanding what an article literally says. Real fluency means being able to evaluate arguments, spot the author's tone, question assumptions, and express your own well-reasoned perspective.

In this course, we use fascinating, bite-sized articles covering modern tech, psychology, workplace trends, culture, and global events to sharpen both your reading comprehension and your critical thinking skills.

What We Do in Each Session:

  1. The Critical Hook (3 mins): Before opening the text, we explore the core issue: What assumptions do people usually make about this topic?

  2. Vocabulary & Nuance Breakdown (5 mins): We examine 3–5 high-level words, idioms, or hedging expressions (e.g., "allegedly," "it could be argued," "ostensibly") to see how word choice shapes an argument.

  3. Targeted Reading & Analysis (7 mins): We read short excerpts aloud or skim together, focusing on:

    • Identifying the central thesis and supporting evidence.

    • Distinguishing between hard facts and author opinions.

    • Spotting tone, rhetorical devices, or subtle bias.

  4. The Critical Debate (8 mins): We challenge the article's claims:

    • Do you find the author's evidence convincing?

    • What counterarguments or alternative perspectives are missing?

    • How does this apply to your own life, country, or industry?

  5. Key Takeaways & Feedback (2 mins): Quick wrap-up covering pronunciation tips, sentence structure corrections, and your personalized vocabulary list.

Materials We Use:

  • Curated articles from top English resources (such as Engoo Daily News, Breaking News English, tech journals, and lifestyle columns).

  • Leveled adaptations so you are challenged without feeling overwhelmed.

  • Want to bring your own? You are always welcome to bring an article, opinion editorial, or blog post you want to dissect together!

Who Is This Course For?

  • Intermediate to Advanced learners (B1–C1) who want more intellectual stimulation than typical small talk.

  • Students preparing for tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or TOEIC where analyzing an author’s intent and argument structure is essential.

  • Professionals who need to read, synthesize, and comment on English documents and news quickly and effectively.

Step beyond simple reading—start analyzing, reacting, and debating like a native speaker.

Pick your session time, bring your curiosity, and let’s explore today’s headlines together!
