- The validity period for this lesson pack is 15 days starting from the scheduled date and time of the first confirmed lesson.
Even if the first scheduled lesson is canceled, the already set validity period will not change.

English Debate Session: "The Future of Work: Remote vs. In-Office"
Duration: 60 minutes
Level: Intermediate (B1–B2 CEFR) individual session applicable
Goal: To practice persuasive speaking, critical thinking, and structured argumentation in English
Session Structure
Part 1: Introduction & Topic Launch (10 min)

Hook (3 min): Show a short clip (1–2 min) or image depicting a busy office vs. someone working remotely in a scenic location.

Vocabulary & Context (7 min):

Introduce key terms: remote work, hybrid model, productivity, collaboration, work-life balance, isolation, flexibility, corporate culture.

Provide simple statistics (e.g., “In 2023, 30% of global companies adopted hybrid work” – sourced from BBC or Forbes).

Pose the debate motion:
"This house believes that remote work is better for employees and companies than traditional in-office work."

Part 2: Team Preparation (15 min)

Divide participants into Proposition (for remote work) and Opposition (for in-office work).

Provide prepared argument cards (see below) with clear points and examples.

Each team plans:

Opening statement (1 main argument).

Two supporting arguments with examples.

One rebuttal point against the other side’s likely argument.

Part 3: The Debate (25 min)

Opening Statements (3 min each side).

Rebuttal & Free Debate (12 min, moderated by instructor).

Closing Statements (2 min each side).
Part 4: Feedback & Reflection (10 min)

Group vote: Which side was more convincing?

Language feedback: Highlight effective phrases, correct common errors.

Reflection question: “What was the strongest point you heard today?”
