How To Avoid Negative Self-Talk In The Learning Process

Where is that voice coming from anyway?

Description

In this lesson I'll have the student points their attention towards that voice within that tells us we're not enough, we're full of imperfections and can't really make progress learning English or any other language.

Few people are actually able to recognize that we're ourselves' worst critics. More often than not, we're reminding ourselves of our own imperfections and shortcomings, not realizing the atrocious damage we're dealing upon ourselves.

If a good friend of yours came to you and asked for advice, or a little child begged you for validation, what would you say to them? How would you treat them?

Well, I'm sure you would just listen quietly, and then tell them they're more talented than they think, that they're actually capable of accomplishing more, and that it's okay to fail.

When we fail or make mistakes, we can be THAT PERSON. We can reassure and validate ourselves. Why is it that we just can't seem to be that person for ourselves?

We'll touch upon certain techniques based on mindfulness to nip in the bud and prevent the whole negative self-talk from fully going loose.
