Let's learn English and have a blast at the same time!!

Description

These conversation games are a fun way to learn English for kids, and a great way for them to speak to a native speaker without getting nervous!  You can choose which game we do ahead of time or I can choose for us.  Either way, we'll be sure to have a lot of fun while were speaking English!

Games We Can Do Without Help From Parents

Forgetful Lindsey - In this game I will show different flash cards or objects to the young student and turn my head the other way.  The young student must then try to help me understand what I showed them by speaking in English.  My group of Frozen Flash cards is especially fun for this lesson.

I Spy - This is a fun game where I or the young student finds something in a picture I show or even in camera view of the other persons house and tries to get the other player to guess what it is.

Lying lesson - This is the same game I play with adult students, and works just as well with younger ones as well!  In this game the student and I both tell each other three stories, they can be very short - even two or three sentences.  Two of the stories are true and one of them is not.  Then we have to guess which was true and which one was not.

Games We Can Do With Help From Parents

Blindfold - In this game the parent will get together some items before the lesson including a scarf to use as a blindfold.  They will then give the items to the child while they are blindfolded and the child must try to guess what they are in English.   This is a great lesson to learn and practice adjectives as well as listening and speaking.  The child will need to think of good adjectives to use to describe what they are feeling.  (Any item is good for this game even if it's easy to guess because we'll still be able to talk about it.  Some good ideas for objects that are more difficult or fun to guess include figurines, certain kinds of things you'd find in the kitchen like food that has an interesting tecture like prunes, cooking instruments, things that are gooey you can put in a ziploc bag - be sure to double bag, etc.)

What's in the Bag - Same Idea as blindfold, but instead of handing the young student items the parent will need to put items into a bag of some sort that the student can pull out one at a time.  Smaller items are good for this like paperclips, dice, clip on earrings, bouncy balls, etc.

Bingo - In this game the parent will need to print off a bingo board ahead of time.  I'll send you the link.  I'll make the bingo board online specifically for our lesson.  It will have lots of pictures on it's different squares.  You can even help choose the theme (wheather, travel, etc.).  I'll call out a different picture each turn at random and we'll see who gets a bingo first.  With every picture we'll have a quick discussion, and I'll help with their pronunciation as we go.

Dice Game -In this game the parent will print off a worksheet with different squares on it.  Each square will have an English word.  The parent will also need to provide dice.  We will have a dice throwing competition.  Whoever throws the higher number gets to move one space on the board.  That player must then use the word in a sentence before we throw the dice again.  Whoever gets to the end first wins!

Rock Paper Scissors Game - This game is similiar to the dice game, but instead of dice we'll play rock paper scissors to decide who gets to move ahead on the board.
