Taboo タブー
Let's practice your English through this classic timed game of *unspeakable* fun!

Would you like to try a non-traditional method of learning and improving your vocabulary? Then why don't you play a game of "Taboo" with me?
How to Play:
1. There will be a deck of cards with a word at the top. This is the word that you are trying to explain to me WITHOUT using that word. Sounds easy, right?
2. BUT... There's a catch. There will be 5 ADDITIONAL words that are "taboo" (or that are forbidden from use).
3. I will try to guess the word that you are describing. If I am able to guess correctly based on your explanation of the word, then you get 1 point.
4. Then it will be my turn to explain a word to you and you will try to guess what word I'm describing. If you guess correctly, I get 1 point.
5. We continue until time runs out and whoever has the most points wins the game!
1. You will have up to 5 minutes to describe the word.
2. You may use variations of the "taboo" words
3. If you use any of the "taboo" words, the card will be discarded and no one gets a point.
Rules for Advanced Intermediate/Advanced Players:
1. You will have 2 minutes to describe the word.
2. You may NOT use variations of the "taboo" words.
----- This includes abbreviations, verb tenses (past, present, future, etc.), any parts of a compound word, initials, spelling, letters, "sounds like", and "rhymes with".
Example: If the word you are describing is "Heavy" and the taboo words are: weight, metal, heft, lift, & pounds you cannot say "heavier, heaviest, weigh, weighed, metallic, hefty, lifted, lifter, lifting, etc." because they are all considered variations.
3. If you use any of the "taboo" words, the card will be discarded and no one gets a point.
