Read and Discuss the News Together
Read through a news article together, check understanding and new vocabulary, answer a few questions and then discuss your thoughts and opinions.

Let's discuss the news together! Reading and understanding the news in English is great practice. Not only will reading genuine news articles improve your English ability, but it should also help to increase your knowledge of the world and how other countries report on events.
After taking a few of these lessons you should feel more confident to start reading the news in English on your own more often, whether while sat at home or on your commute to and from work.
News Topics
Topics can cover anything from general news, politics, sport, entertainment, business, travel, science, technology and more. Normally I will select the article for you based on your needs or interests, however if you have a specific article you would like to read together, that is fine too.
General Lesson Plan
1. I will send you the news article in advance of the lesson so you can read through and familiarise yourself with the text and vocabulary. If you don't have chance to read through before the lesson, that is also fine.
2. After a few minutes of general chat and introduction, you will then read through the article aloud.
3. Time will then be given for you to then ask questions before we go through a few short questions I have written in advance of the lesson to check your understanding.
4. After this we will discuss your thoughts and opinions about the article. Whether we agree or not, I'll try to challenge you to argue in support of your opinions, while also learning how to respond to different views.
