A notice from Tutor Mark Roy - Featured lesson

I just thought I would write a feature on one of my most booked lessons...my "Speak to me!" lesson. I have been teaching on Cafetalk for just over a year now and this is by far my most popular lesson. I think one of the reasons is that my students like the format of the lesson. The lesson teaches the student a mixture of skills that are needed for everyday conversation including:

General and informal chat
New vocabulary and associated meanings
Examples of how you can use the new vocabulary
Reading / comprehension practice
Phrase building
Idioms
Further discussion on the chosen topic

I use one of over 300 worksheets that I have for these lessons. They are well structured and each one has a theme. Some examples of the themes include: Happiness, Global Warming, Alternative Energy, Crime and Punishment, Organic Food and many many other subjects. The worksheets cater for all levels of English speaker and although there is a structure to the sheets, I always introduce additional material such as grammar questions and discussion around the main topic. Most students who complete the lesson feel like they have learned new and useful vocabulary and 95% of my students go on to book multiple sessions. After your first lesson, I will send you a further 5 or 10 worksheets so you can choose a topic for your next lesson and maybe do some preparation (although this is not necessary).
