Have you ever noticed how autumn can feel both beautiful and a little mysterious? The changing colours of the leaves, quiet woodland paths, the glow of an autumn fire, and the feeling that familiar places become different after dark have inspired writers and storytellers for generations.
 
 
 
In this seminar, we’ll step into the autumn world of **L. M. Montgomery, the author of *Anne of Green Gables*.** Through her beautiful descriptions of Prince Edward Island in *The Woods in Autumn* and *An Autumn Evening*, as well as Anne and Diana’s famous Haunted Wood, we’ll explore the connection between autumn landscapes, imagination, folklore, and the supernatural.
 
 
 
We’ll also look at Halloween traditions from Anne’s era, including seasonal customs, fortune-telling, and the Celtic influences that helped shape autumn traditions in Atlantic Canada.
