Hello and welcome!

My name is James, and I am a native English speaker from the UK who has lived and worked in Japan for over 20 years.

My professional background is unique because I have spent much of my career helping people communicate effectively.

Early in my time in Japan, I taught English to both children and adults for nearly two years.

Since then, I have built a successful career as an IT recruiter and business professional in Tokyo, working with international companies and professionals in Japan and from around the world as well as teaching English part-time to both children and adults.

Living and working in Japan for such a long time has given me a deep understanding of the challenges Japanese learners face when studying English. I understand not only the language barriers, but also the cultural differences that can make communication in English feel difficult or intimidating.

I am passionate about helping students build confidence and use English naturally in real-life situations, whether for travel, work, interviews, presentations, or everyday conversation.

Teaching Background: 
I began my teaching journey in Japan, where I taught English in person to children and adults for approximately two years.

During that time, I developed lesson plans, taught one-on-one and group lessons, and helped students improve their speaking, listening, and communication skills.

Because of my background, I can offer students practical English that is actually used in the workplace—not just textbook English. I can also help students prepare for job interviews, improve business communication, practice presentations, and gain confidence when speaking with international colleagues and clients.

Teaching Style:
My lessons are relaxed, friendly, and focused on communication.

I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable speaking, making mistakes, and asking questions.

My goal is to create an environment where students can build confidence while improving their English naturally.

I tailor lessons to each student's goals and level. Whether you are a beginner looking to improve your conversation skills or an experienced professional preparing for an interview or business meeting, lessons can be customized to meet your needs.
