Hello!
My name is Raef and I have been teaching English in Japan since April 2021 and also been helping University students with academic support in whatever subject they are studying. I have made strong and trusting relationships with both adults and children and want to make more! I want all students to be excited for our lessons. Your time is important to me!
I love filmmaking and talking about TV and movies (please see my photo!), in fact, it's often useful for your studies, too! I often work on small projects making films in my spare time.
As a student, I often felt I was left asking 'but, why?' in my lessons, so I intend to teach in a way that fills any gaps in understanding. Contextualising the English language is the approach I take the most pride in. For me, just explaining the rules isn't enough! I always aim to find ways to show the similarities with the things you may already know. This makes it so much easier to understand and then use!
Students have mentioned their nerves to me before lessons, so creating a fun and welcoming environment is my goal! I understand how difficult it is to use a second language confidently!
Ultimately, my love for teaching comes from a strong care in how I believe teaching and learning should be done. I want to encourage and inspire students to reach their goals and feel that learning English is a fun and rewarding experience!
