Hello! I'm Lauren, and I am from the state of Virginia in the US, currently living in Taiwan. I graduated from George Mason University near Washington D.C, where I studied Anthropology and Linguistics, and am working on my Masters in Education at NSYSU in Kaoshiung, Taiwan. Teaching is my passion and I hope to share my knowledge with you!

Teaching and Tutoring

I was a grade school tutor for 7 years, with most of my students being in elementary or middle school. I'm an all-around tutor and help with a variety of subjects, from math to English. I even teach American kids how to improve their speaking and writing!

I spent a year in Japan interning with a cultural exchange organization, during which I met with many kids to sing songs and perform short-stories in English. In the States, I worked for a hands-on learning youth organization, and here in Taiwan I've had experiences in cram school. As a result, I've first hand practiced different methods of instruction.

Interests

My favourite topic is food; I spend a lot of my free time cooking or thinking about cooking. My other hobbies are art, hiking, and literature.
I also love to travel and have been abroad many times, including to study abroad in Switzerland and South Korea.
I hope to inspire my students to step out of their comfort zone!

Lessons

My lessons cater to what a student needs and what their interests are. In teaching English: If you need structure, I can create a plan to broaden vocab and grammar. If you need conversation practice, I'm interested in what topics you want to be able to discuss.
If you need someone to review your writing, I'm ready to explain formal written English.
As someone with a linguistic background, if you are interested in the finer details and nuance of English, I'm your person!
