Hello! My name is Bernice and I am a native English speaker, with a passion for teaching! I have a degree in education and an International English Teacher Certificate in TESOL. Along with my TESOL certificate and degree, I’ve also have a certificate in facilitation. I’ve been teaching for 10 years, and I’ve been loving every year of teaching. It is my passion and my calling.
More about myself;
I’m a fun loving teacher. I love the outdoors and spending time outdoors with my family, children and of course my dogs. When I’m not working or being a mom, I do some gardening and I spend most of my free time doing various forms of art. Recently I’ve been experimenting with digital art and I find it very rewarding.
My teaching style;
I believe with fun comes learning! Laughter makes for a great learning experience! I love to laugh with my students :) I believe students learn best when they are relaxed enough to feel making mistakes are part of the learning experience and not something to fear or try and avoid. I am driven to unlock the full potential of each student placed under my care. I want my students to feel safe and comfortable.
I have many years of experience teaching second languages and have the patience and skills needed to teach those with limited English language skills. I speak Afrikaans as a second language, so I understand the difficulty that comes with studying English . I’m kind and patient with my students, I understand learning English can be difficult. I’m a creative and kind teacher that believes in positive reinforcement with genuine encouragement. I understand that everyone will progress at their own speed and I will adapt my teaching style to fit with my students' level and personality. With this approach students will gain the most from our learning experience.
I believe students deserve the best and most rewarding learning experience and I believe this is what I give my students with every lesson.
