Hello/ こんにちは! I am Mariana, an anthropologist, artist and travel addict. I love to meet people from all over the world, which is partly why I have lived and worked in many countries in my life, including Japan. In Japan I taught academic English and also Business English to Mitsubishi employees, preparing businessmen for their new lives overseas.

I used to live in London, where I completed my advanced degrees, and now live in Amsterdam, in Holland. Before that I went to university in California. My other interests and hobbies are food (kappo ryori, sashimi, okonomiyaki), cinema, swimming, baroque music, and succulents.

I love to help my students with their personal goals and encourage them to learn about and explore the world. I am patient and an excellent listener. My first degree was in in Linguistics so you can say that I love languages. I can give lessons on British and American pronunciation. I also have a lot of experience writing, editing and copy writing and am able to help you with those tricky grammar problems. 

My specialty is preparation for the speaking and listening part of the IELTS and TOEIC exams. I work for the British Council and sometimes supervise IELTS exams. I can help you gain confidence so you can pass these exams!
