Hello everyone, my name is Gary Lewis and I am from England,
but I live in Nagaoka, Niigata, Japan and have been teaching English for over 18 years.  

I have taught EIKEN, IELTS, Business English and TOEFL as well as general conversation and can adapt and create lessons to suit students’ needs.  I currently teach mainly young children at private English conversation school, this has helped me learn patience and develop ways of keeping lessons fun and stimulating.  
 
I have experience teaching children and adults, including large groups and individual private lessons, both online and face to face.  I believe that teaching the student is more important than teaching the lesson with many students saying my lessons are fun, easy to understand and  remember.  I keep my lessons relaxed and make sure that students can understand and learn at their own pace, while enjoying themselves.
 
During my time in Japan, I have studied Japanese and managed to gain the JLPT 2, and also completed an online M.A. In Applied Linguistics from the University of Birmingham in England.  These have helped me improved as a teacher and understand the feelings of a student learning and communicating in a second language.
 
I hope we can have fun while we learn together.
