I am a 24-year-old, ambitious, and passionate educator with a strong belief in the power of education to transform lives. Born and raised in the rural areas of South Africa, I have never allowed my background or circumstances to limit my aspirations. My international experience has shaped me into a confident, empathetic, and culturally aware individual who thrives in diverse learning environments.
I hold a BA in International Relations and an Honours degree in French Literature, along with a TEFL certificationand a DELF B1 qualification in French. My academic background, combined with hands-on teaching experience, has allowed me to develop a well-rounded approach to language education.
My teaching journey has been both local and international. I have worked as a French tutor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, supporting first- and second-year students for one year. I also volunteered for six months at a primary school in South Africa, and later spent nine months teaching English at primary and secondary schools in France. Additionally, I gained valuable professional experience in a sales and marketing company, where I conducted induction and training sessions for new employees. These diverse roles have strengthened my communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
As a teacher, I place a strong emphasis on grammar and sentence construction, as I understand from personal experience how challenging these aspects can be for language learners. My teaching methodologies are flexible and tailored to the age group and proficiency level of my students. I believe that patience, empathy, and motivation are key to successful learning. I strive to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable, supported, and inspired to reach their goals.
Beyond teaching, I am a creative and reflective person. I enjoy singing, writing music and poetry, baking, and gardening, as well as outdoor activities such as hiking and mountain biking. These hobbies bring me serenity and balance, qualities that I bring into my teaching as well.
Teaching is more than a profession to me, it is a calling. I am fully dedicated to helping my students grow academically and personally, and I take pride in seeing them develop confidence through language learning. I am eager to continue this journey through the TEFL program and further refine my skills as an educator who can make a lasting, positive impact in the lives of learners worldwide.
