Hello everyone, I'm Anushka.

I'm 32 years old and originally from a town near Mumbai, India. I grew up trilingual so, I can speak English, Hindi and Marathi fluently. 
I work in corporate training now and create course materials for professionals.
Before I became a teacher, I studied Life Sciences at University in India and in the UK. After finishing my Master's in Scotland, I worked at a lab and then at a microbrewery for a few months but, I was always interested in languages and I decided to become an English language teacher.

In 2018, I finished my TEFL certification and moved to Tokyo, Japan to work at an English language school. I was there for 2 years and taught all ages and levels from beginner to advanced. However, I prefer teaching adult students of age 18 and above. I have experience teaching General English, Business English and IELTS preparation lessons. Most of my adult students were business owners and professionals from banking, IT and engineering backgrounds who needed English for work related interactions. Several other students were middle aged or retired people who studied English as a hobby or for travel and tourism.
My time in Japan was really enjoyable and exciting because I met people from different walks of life and learnt a lot from them about Japan, their culture, their language and different professions too. Yoyogi Koen, Tokyo. Autumn leaves

My interests are gardening, cooking, hiking, watching movies, TV shows and reading books. I also enjoy walks in the park, visiting science museums, dancing and learning languages.

I have lived in four countries including India and many cities (Scotland, Japan, Sri Lanka). I am easy-going, friendly and always excited to talk to new people. 

Lessons and Teaching style

My lessons would be conversation style where we can discuss different topics like travel, health and fitness, science and technology and culture and food. It could be a free flowing conversation, a guided conversation for lower level learners or a debate and in-depth discussion for upper level learners. Lessons will also be interactive with some games and activities. I also enjoy teaching grammar topics. These lessons will have several example sentences and exercises for practice according to the level of the student.

I understand that every student has different requirements and proficiency levels so; lessons can be adapted to your level and needs. Students can bring in topics of their choice for discussions or news articles from websites. 

I am a fun-loving person and I like to bring positivity and energy in my lessons too. I assure you I’ll make lessons fun, easy and enjoyable for all my students. During my time teaching offline I have been told my accent and pronunciation is easy to understand and very clear. My goal as a teacher is to build your confidence in using the English language. I will be giving appropriate feedback and corrections towards the end of each lesson.
