My name is Darlington—a TEFL/TESOL certified educator, published researcher, and director of a language school. I come from Ghana and currently reside in Italy.

 

My academic journey has been extensive and globally focused. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Ghana, a Master of Arts in Governance and Public Policy from the University of Passau, Germany, and a Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences from the University of Bologna, Italy.

 

Beyond the classroom, I have deep professional experience providing research consultancies and training services for various organizations and business institutions. My practical work includes developing strategic policy plans, conducting programmatic mid-term evaluations, and delivering corporate training in technical report writing, public speaking, conflict management, and corporate governance. This background allows me to bring real-world industry knowledge directly into my sessions.

 

When it comes to interests, these are quite diverse. I am deeply passionate about development economics, international relations, and public policy, and frequently engage with political discourses and debates on the BBC. When I am taking a break from academic writing and professional coaching, you will likely find me analyzing moves in a game of Chess, playing Scrabble, or immersing myself in the intrigues of a good novel. I also serve as youth pastor in my local community church.

 

With over six years of language coaching experience, I tailor my one-on-one lessons around three main areas to ensure you get the exact guidance you need.

 

If you are seeking long-term conversational fluency, I help you build lasting confidence in your speaking at a steady pace. In these sessions, we focus on real-world interactions, small talk, vocabulary expansion, grammar correction and pronounciation. I also correct your collocations so your phrasing becomes precise, natural and intuitive, allowing you to communicate more clearly and comfortably.

 

If your goals are centered around the corporate world, my Business English lessons provide practical coaching tailored specifically for your career. We cover everyday workplace communication, business pitches, technical report writing, and public speaking to help you navigate your professional life with absolute confidence.

 

Finally, for scholars and test-takers, I provide tutoring on Academic English & Test Prep with targeted strategies to help you ace standardized exams such as the IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, SAT, and Cambridge. I also provide a writing workshop that teaches best practices in drafting research proposals, journal articles, graduate applications, and college term papers.

 

Teaching is an art, and no two students ever learn the same thing the same way. I alternate therefore between proven learning models—such as Task-Based Learning (TBL), Presentation-Practice-Production (PPP), and Test-Teach-Test (TTT)—to ensure I align perfectly with your preferred pace and study orientation.

 

For long-term conversational students, we often use engaging multimedia like YouTube videos, TED Talks, or news debates to spark organic discussions, paired with targeted grammar drills to solidify your foundation. We may also focus on your interests, routines, and pastime activities to ensure you learn the vocabularies relevant to your daily life. For academic and business students, we dive directly into practical resources like research papers, scenario videos, and professional articles.
