Hi, I'm Max! I'm a French tutor with a lifelong passion for languages, whether learning them, or teaching them and the arts, literature especially, which I could talk about for... ever. I am also a full-time traveller for the past 4 years, and tend to teach my lessons from all over the world! I have been tutoring students for many years, but have made language my profession for the past 4 years, first as a professional translator (from English to French) and then, eventually, as a teacher. I have always loved teaching and sharing my knowledge about topics I am passionate about, and believe that learning a new language is unlocking the door to an entirely new culture, community, and experiences. I truly believe that learning a language should feel natural, fun, and adapted to you. Everyone learns differently, and that’s why I’m all about tailoring our lessons to your interests, your goals, and your pace. As a language learner myself, I know how difficult it can be to find the right way to learn, and even if you don't know it yet, I'm here to guide you in your learning journey!
My methodology is simple:
Personalized learning: No cookie-cutter lessons! I’ll build sessions around your specific needs, whether that’s grammar, conversation, professional language, or travel prep.
Balance of structure & freedom: Want to just chat and improve fluency? Great! Want detailed grammar explanations, exercises, and weekly progress tracking? Also great!
Resource-rich learning: I can prepare custom lessons, create Anki flashcards, send you vocab lists, recommend podcasts or books, or give you follow-up exercises. Whatever works best for you.
Real-life topics: We can talk about anything: current events, books, music, work, hobbies, or even daily life stuff, whatever keeps you engaged and learning naturally.
A bit about my experience:
For the past four years, I’ve been teaching French to learners of all levels, both privately and in language schools. I’ve worked with kids, teens, adults, and professionals in different countries and cultures, which has helped me become a really flexible and attentive tutor. Some of my students were learning for work, others for fun or for love, and many just wanted to feel more confident speaking French in real life.
Here’s how I can help:
Build confidence through relaxed, conversation-based sessions
Improve grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation
Prepare for travel, exams, or work-related goals
Practice writing, listening, or reading
Create a personalized learning plan based on your level and goals

Whether you're just starting out, picking French back up after a break, or already quite advanced and looking to keep your skills sharp, I’m here to help.
We can keep things relaxed and just chat to build your confidence and fluency, or we can dive into something more structured, like grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, or exam prep. I’m happy to prepare full lessons, exercises, and truly believe in spaced repetition and would create Anki flashcards for you to use outside of lessons to keep you progressing between sessions.
We can talk about pretty much anything you like, books, movies, podcasts, travel, current events, your work, your passions, or even your dog! If you have a specific goal, like preparing for a trip, improving your professional French, or connecting better with a French-speaking partner or community, I’ll make sure our lessons are targeted on your goals, helpful, and give you a sense of accomplishment.
Here’s what I offer:
