miyuki_ Tutor Profile

안녕하세요^^
I’m Miyuki, a Japanese person married to a Korean partner, and who has been living in South Korea since 2017.

I met and married my husband in Japan, and we were blessed with two children. We were raising them leisurely in the Japanese countryside when we suddenly had to move to South Korea.

I always converse in Japanese with my husband, as he is fluent in Japanese.
Moving to South Korea without knowing any Korean as someone who was just about to turn 40, and having two young children with me, was exciting but also came with a considerable amount of anxiety.
I thought that after living in South Korea for a year or two, I would naturally be able to speak the language, but unfortunately, that only happened for the children.
Learning Korean through a language I didn’t understand was incredibly difficult. Countless times, I was astonished at how my Korean skills weren’t improving at all, especially when compared to my children who were advancing so rapidly.

I desperately wanted to be able to advance my speak level more quickly. I wanted to be able to understand what I heard. With this in mind, I made time every single day, even if it were just a little, and studied as hard as I could in my own way.
Even then, my Korean skills just wouldn’t improve!! lol

Even so, I now believe that it’s precisely because of these efforts that I am where I am today.
I learned Korean through Korean—a language I didn’t understand—and it was very hard.
I often wondered, if I had learned that initial stage in Japanese and built a proper foundation, wouldn’t my acquisition have been much faster?
Based on my own experiences, I hope I can be of some help to those who will study from now on.

Ever since I first came to South Korea, I’ve carried the goal of “someday wanting to teach Korean” because I had this precious opportunity to live in South Korea and learn the language, and I’ve walked this path until now.
I’ve also taken and studied in “training courses for Japanese speakers to teach other Japanese speakers.”

For those of you feeling that:
“I’m just not improving.”
“I can’t stay motivated.”
“I feel like giving up.”
“I can’t keep going.”
I’ve been through all of these stages myself. lol
Even if you have taken some time off from studying Korean, as long as you keep going, you will definitely improve!
Also, it’s never too late to start, no matter when.

Let’s have fun together!!
While also studying with clear goals in mind♪

I hope I can help you overcome the big obstacles you’ve run into in a way that’s much easier and stress-free.
I look forward to learning with you^^♪

*If this is your first time taking a lesson with me
When you take your first lesson with me, I’d like to hear about your purpose and goals for studying Korean, what you hope to achieve, your future vision for yourself, and so on.
For instances:
- I want to be able to hold everyday conversations in Korean.
- I want to study at my own pace while having fun.
Anything is fine.
I’d be more then glad if you could share your hopes so I can provide lessons tailored to your needs ^^
