Hi my name is John. I’m a 42 year old ex-pat and I’ve been living in the Czech Republic for the last 12 years. I’m a native English speaker born and raised in the London area, where, due to its cosmopolitan nature, I have interacted with many people of different cultures and backgrounds. This has given me the ability to communicate in English face to face in real world situations with diverse groups.
During the last year I have completed a TEFL course, as I wish to expand my teaching experience, which currently is focused on one to one lessons online via zoom.
My children are bilingual in Czech and English. Their mother tongue is Czech, but I wanted to ensure their level of English was also of a high standard and they are now fluent.

I’ve experienced the challenges of learning a new language myself during my years living and working in the Czech Republic. I can empathise therefore with students attempting to learn new language skills and the problems they will experience.
Before lessons commence I would like to communicate via chat box or e mail with students, where they can tell me their learning objectives and what level of English they are currently at. There is a custom lesson option for this exact scenario incidentally.
This will enable us to focus on areas for improvement, as well as introducing elements of study they personally enjoy. After we have conducted a first face to face meeting/lesson I will also be able to gain more insight into their level of English and can then incorporate this assessment into future learning.

Students of all ages are welcome. If students wish to customise their own lesson plans I don’t have a problem with that. Alternatively I can produce lesson plans based on their personal targets and objectives.
I feel I can motivate and encourage students to achieve their goals in a fun and focused way. It’s important they leave lessons with the feeling they have progressed and learnt something new.
