Half-Japanese (father), and half-American (mother). Born in Chicago, USA, then as a baby, moved to Kobe with family. Went to Canadian Academy International School in Kobe, through the 3rd grade. From 4th grade, through adulthood, lived in San Diego and Los Angeles, California. After college, lived in Tokyo and taught English. After going back to America, came back to visit Japan very often.
