About meHello! My name is Katharine. Nice to meet you! Originally from the United States, I have lived in Argentina, Spain, and now Japan. Language, culture and travel are my passions, and I hope to share them with you! I am a lifelong learner of foreign languages, so I understand what it feels like to learn a foreign language. I know just how hard it is to gain confidence in your non-native languages, so the focus of my lessons is and will always be building confidence and motivation. If you have confidence and motivation, nothing can hold you back!
About my lessonsI offer mainly lessons in conversation and practical English, although if there is anything in particular that you would like to work on, I am more than happy to do that as well! Whether we are having a conversation lesson or not, I do try to incorporate plenty of speaking practice in every class. I try to keep my lessons
fun,
lighthearted and
low pressure. They are a place where you can
feel free to make mistakes and learn from your mistakes. They are also a place where you can identify your
strengths as well as your weaknesses.
The two pillars of my lessons are:
1. Staying motivated
2. Gaining confidence
If you can do these two things, your English will almost certainly improve regardless of the method or methods you choose to use!
My academic and professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Spanish
- 120-hour TEFL certificate
- Spanish to English translation certificate
- JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) level N1 (highest level)
- About 4 years teaching English, 1 year online

A final word
I am here to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. Please feel free to contact me or book a lesson and see if my lesson style is a good fit for you. I look forward to meeting you soon!
