Emmet Elliott 프로필
Hi, my name is Emmet. I am originally from the United States, but have lived for the last seven years in Europe. By trade I am an architect, but I also have a degree in philosophy, and had fate twisted otherwise, I would probably be working as language arts teacher.
All told, I have around 2 years of total English-teaching experience, mostly with middle and high school students in New York City. I have bachelor's degrees in architecture and philosophy (currently working on a master's in architecture) and received a Fulbright arts grant in 2019. Additionally, I have worked as an architect and urban designer in Germany for five years.
I am therefor best positioned for assisting students and professionals interested in perfecting their English skills with regard to their reading and writing -- especially in the contexts of essay writing, academic writing, literary English, and in the fields of fine arts, architecture and urbanism etc. For students of philosophy, I am well suited to help with close readings of german language philosophers in both English and the original German. For professional architects or students of architecture, I can offer courses in both German and English in architectural terminology and norms.
If you fit into one of these categories, I'd love to hear from you. I believe wholeheartedly in a flexible teaching approach. No single meathod can work for all of us, and all learning is a collaborative effort. Therefore, I work to adjust my teaching style to your needs. However, as it is how I learn best, we will work a lot with contemporary and classical examples of (mostly) written language, from the ever-expanding canon of Western culture. When learning a language, it makes sense to learn with its masters!
