Hello, everyone! 皆さんこんにちは！
My name is Andrew and I am a qualified English teacher from the UK. In the past 12 years I have taught English in 8 different countries (!), and I now live in Tokyo with my wife and daughter.
I moved to Japan in 2022 and have worked lots here with kids, elementary and junior high school age students, as well as adults for general and business purposes, in addition to English exam preparation.
I have lots of experience teaching people from a range of industries who use English for their work and need lessons that are tailored to their specific needs. If you work with English or have an English language project you are working on and want to use your own content in our lessons, then that is great! Let’s do it together!
I worked extensively throughout Europe and in Russia coaching students to pass official English exams such as IELTS and the Cambridge exams and enjoyed a period working freelance as a content writer creating mock exams complete with listening, reading, writing, speaking and grammar sections (including TOEIC and TOEFL).

I believe that language learning should be natural and enjoyable, and everything we learn or discuss in a lesson is something that will be useful to you personally.
Whether it is in a grammar lesson, test preparation, or daily conversation practice, you will come away with lots of practical English that will help us achieve your language goals together!
For content-based lessons, we can use a range of textbooks, such as English File (Oxford), Grammar in Use and Vocabulary in Use (Cambridge). We can also use a range of online resources and published materials for test preparation, and articles and other topical materials in our daily conversational lessons.
As always in our lessons we will use an interactive whiteboard to take notes and develop your strengths and look for areas to improve. After the lesson you will receive a copy of the notes and home practice exercises.

I am also a huge fan of sports and fitness. Over the years I have worked hard to stay fit. It is not always easy, but understanding diet and nutrition has been key for me! I love cycling, weight training, boxing and running (in nice weather), and my young child keeps me active! I would love to help you if you are looking for training advice and how to plan a new, healthy diet plan.
I enjoy discussing a range of topics, so we can learn about many interesting things together in our lessons, but most of all, I like meeting new people, which means I am really looking forward to meeting you!
