Hello everyone!
I am Suzi Chen and I am sending you a very warm greeting from the beautiful city of Melbourne, Australia.
Call me Dr Suzi for a bit of fun!
I have had an interesting and fun career. I started as a medical researcher working in hospitals doing clinical trials. Because of my doctoral degree, sometimes people still call me Dr Chen for a bit of fun even though I don't work in medical research anymore.
I left medical research, because I was offered a great opportunity to project manage multi-million dollar projects for the state of Victoria. Through this position, I built very strong project management skills.
I was then inspired to start my own strategy consulting firm helping businesses grow. My team has been fantastic and very capable, and they have freed up my time to pursuit my interests such as travelling, design, writing and teaching on Cafetalk. I am blessed to work with such a capable team.
What do I teach?
I have worked with many young people and professionals around the world who would like to refine their business and English skills including writing and conversational skills.
That's why I am offering 3 courses:
- Intelligent Dinner Conversion with Foreign Guests
- Have Fun Learning Through Yummy Food lessons
- Speaking Everyday English Everyday.
Why my courses are special?
I have more than 10 years of professional experience from multiple industries, so this means I am able to make my lessons real and practical.
My lessons are designed in a way that students get to actually practise what they learn. My goal is to help you be confident with your skills and, therefore, be confident about yourself.
But most of all, I care about my students, I care about you and I want to help you succeed. That's why my courses are special.
Why do I teach?
People often ask me why I teach given that I lead a very very busy schedule. My answer is I LOVE learning. I believe knowledge is power and learning brings opportunities. I also believe it is through education that we can create a better world. That's why I encourage all my students to be a life-long learner. I hope I will be able to help you too.
Some fun facts about me
I have travelled to more than 20 countries in the last 10 years. Some of my favourite places include Macchu Pichu in Peru, Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia and Quebec City in Canada.
In 2018, I lead an international team with representatives from 13 countries and together we work closely with the United Nations on Sustainable Development Goals to build a better future.
