Hello! I'm Zinie, a Korean teacher on Cafetalk :-)
I was born and raised in Seoul, and I recently returned to Korea after spending three and a half years in the United States with my family due to my husband's work.
I continued teaching Korean while living in the U.S., but because of the time difference between Korea and the U.S., I wasn't able to meet as many students as I would have liked. I always wished I could have more opportunities to connect with learners around the world.
Now that I'm back in Korea, I'm really happy and excited to be able to talk with you again!
I majored in Advertising & Public Relations and Journalism & Communication. I have also worked as a freelance reporter and MC in various broadcasting programs.
I completed training at a professional announcer academy as well, so I can help you improve your pronunciation, intonation, rhythm, and overall delivery in Korean.

In the past, I also ran a YouTube channel where I introduced Korean food and Korean culture in English.
If you're curious, I'd love to share some of the videos I made with you.

I especially enjoy teaching intermediate to advanced Korean learners.
My lessons are a great fit for those who already understand Korean to some extent, but find it difficult to express themselves when speaking, or who think:
"My Korean is grammatically correct, but I want to sound more natural—like a Korean!"
Rather than relying only on a traditional textbook, I like to use photos, news, children's stories, interesting topics, and everyday situations to help you experience Korean naturally and, most importantly, speak a lot.
When you talk, I'll listen carefully and respond naturally so that the conversation keeps flowing. At the same time, I'll make sure to point out and correct anything that needs improvement.
I want to be a teacher who makes you feel comfortable enough to talk freely, while also being someone you can trust to take your learning seriously and help you improve.
After living in the U.S. for three and a half years, I experienced firsthand how difficult—and sometimes how much courage it takes—to communicate in a foreign language.
That's why I believe one of the most important things in learning a language is not waiting until you're perfect, but speaking anyway—even when you make mistakes.
So don't worry about making mistakes with me.
Let's just talk, have fun, and keep practicing!
And I'm also a mom to one child. I love talking about kids, family, travel, food, everyday life, and so many other things:)
Of course, you don't have to be a parent or talk about parenting at all!
Tell me about what you enjoy, what you're interested in these days, or something fun that happened to you recently.
I'd love to hear your story!
